Organ Pipe Catcus NM

We headed to Organ Pipe a day after the Southwest LazyDaze gathering at Usery Park in Mesa AZ. We had a good time re-meeting acquaintances from last year and spending more time with our good friends, Gayle, Jim and Debbie. The trip to Organ Pipe runs south of Gila Bend which is just a wide spot along I-10. Just south of town you pass the Gila Bend Auxillary Air Force Base adjacent to the huge Barry Goldwater Bombing Range. If I was an AF pilot, I would probably enjoy using BG's namesake for bombing runs! At least the roadway was surprisingly good, probably since its the main drag to Mexico and the Sea of Cortez. We arrived at the very nice Twin Peaks Camground and set up shop quickly, with great views to the east and west through the large windows of Skye, our 1997 Lazydaze Class C motorhome. This is our view out the door towards the southwest and Mexico.
