There are several lagoons at Dead Horse Ranch State Park, which are near the Verde River Greenbelt. Needless to say, there are quite a few birds around the lagoons. Carla snapped this close up of a Great Huron, who stood his ground until we got within 10 feet.
Standing on a lagoon bank and looking towards the greenbelt.
I believe this is an osprey. He/She was sitting in a dead tree near the lagoons, keeping a close eye on the action.
Many of the trees in the southwest have these clumps of mistletoe.
