We left Dead Horse a day later than planned due to high winds. As we climbed north to Flagstaff, we got great views of the San Francisco Peaks.
Carla, I and the kids travelled this route in the mid-80s. I do not have any recollection of the terrain. Some impressive walls about 40 miles south of Page on highway 89.
Lee's Ferry has a very interesting history, being the only place to cross the Colorado River into northern Arizona during the 1800s. This is also where raft trips begin for the Grand Canyon. Here is a shot of our campsite, right before watching the NCAA Girls Division 1 Final.
