Heading Home…

IMG_0307

After celebrating Carla’s birthday with a yummy supper in Grand Junction the evening prior, we headed out a day early to Denver. The weather forecast was calling for 45-55 mph winds on Wednesday, which is not very conducive for motorhome driving. So, we jumped on I70 and headed for the Continental Divide. There are two big pulls getting over the Rockies, one at Vail and another at the Eisenhower Tunnel. This is a pic of the tunnel just ahead. There is a LOT of snow in the higher elevations of the Rockies. In fact, lakes were still frozen at Frisco, which is around 8500 feet. The V10 motor did her job pulling about 9 tons of dead weight up the mountains, but she whined about it!

After spending about five nights at Cherry Creek SP in Aurora, CO visiting our daughter, husband and cat, we headed for Iowa. We made it to Cody Park in North Platte for our overnight stop. Cody is a small city park with about 20 RV sites next to the Platte River. It also has a small zoo like area with assorted ducks, geese, deer and elk. It is rare that you see water flowing in the Platte River, so here ya go!

A nice evening shot. The weather was gorgeous. The next day, we toughed it out and drove home to Iowa. So, we are home for the time being. I will continue to work on the blog, but on the front end, rather than on this end, until we hit the road again. Which, I hope will not be long in coming!
