After two evenings at Hiawassee/Ocoee we headed for Fall Creek Falls State Park on the Cumberland Plateau. A very nice park with asphalt pads, water and electricity. Many sites had sewer hookups as well. This is a full service park with inn and cabin accommodations, pool, restaurant, conference center, hiking, fishing, and biking. We were told that the Friday night fish buffet is the best in the region, even better than what you can find along the Florida coast. We were unable to verify that however.
The big draw is Fall Creek Falls, this is not it. But you can barely see water dripping over the edge near the middle of the picture and falling about 150 feet into the pool below. Use your imagination…
This is Fall Creek Falls through vegetation, which needed to be trimmed back. We were amazed by the relatively large 200 to 400 foot deep gorges in this area, cut by the small streams.
A hiker I met near the falls. She liked my historical perspective of the area, and followed me back to the rig!!
